Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Champion front runner David Higgins will return to China for the next round in the Chinese series going for a hat trick of rally wins as he contests the China Rally Shaoguan on 23rd - 24th October. The rally is also a round of the FIA Asia Pacific Championship and will provide some tough opposition for the Mid Wales driver in the form of Malaysia driver, Karamjit Singh and Germany's Armin Kremer. Both drivers battling for the Asia Pacific title.

Markko Märtin and Michael Park today won the Rallye de France after their BP-Ford World Rally Team dominated the asphalt event on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. Their Ford Focus RS World Rally Car crossed the finish line in Ajaccio with a lead of 2min 02.0sec after three-days of flat-out driving over slippery mountain roads.

Although Dessie Nutt/Geraldine McBride (overall) and Steve Smith/John Nichols (post-historic) cannot be caught in championship terms there are still several class contests to be resolved.

BRITISH RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS ~ Carnegie takes record sixth title

Two solid performances at his home Mondello Park circuit were enough to assure Dermot Carnegie of the 2004 MSA British Rallycross Championship.
Rounds eight and nine (October 9 & 10) of the ten-event championship took place at the County Kildare venue in the Irish Republic and while Carnegie was unable to further extend his remarkable run of six event wins, a third place in round eight followed by second in round nine were more than sufficient for the Dublin-based racer to put his name to the British title for a record sixth time.

WRC News ~ CORSICAN WEATHER HOLDS KEY TO BP-FORD CHALLENGE

With just three of the 16 rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship season remaining, it is late in the calendar for the BP-Ford World Rally Team to break new ground. But next week's Rallye de France (14 - 17 October) is the first traditional pure asphalt event of the year. The mountain roads on the island of Corsica are likely to pose the usual challenges which have earned the event its reputation as one of the most difficult in the series.

Almost 100 years after Louis Chevrolet, the Swiss born founder of General Motors' worldwide value brand, won his first event (Three Mile race in New York, 1905), Chevrolet Europe has signed another Swiss born champion to drive for the brand in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Geneva born Alain Menu (41) has been nominated as first driver in Chevrolet Europe's three-car team.
