Round one of the 2008 Kumho Tyres MSA British Rallycross returns to it's tradtional Easter Monday slot on the 24th March. This year the organisers have developed a timetable which will also incorporate plenty of action in to Easter Sunday too.

Crews get set for Malcolm Wilson Rally

Penrith-based driver Paul Bird heads the entry list for the Cumbria-based Malcolm Wilson Rally on Saturday (1 March).

Three-times rally winner Bird and Kirkby Stephen co-driver Andy Richardson will lead the way in their Vent Axia-backed Subaru Impreza WRC (World Rally Car) as car number one for the 43-mile gravel event, which starts and finishes in Cockermouth town centre and is supported by the M-Sport boss.

Following a faultless performance David Bogie and co-driver Kevin Rae won the opening round of the 2008 Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge on this weekend’s Bournemouth-based Rallye Sunseeker, recording their first ever victory in the highly competitive one-make rally championship for Group N (production specification) Lancer Evolutions.

Bell Rallycross Team set for Open Championship and European events in 08

The Bell Rallycross Team (based at Ferryhill) have today confirmed their plans for the 2008 Rallycross season, including several new cars. The team will take part in the Rallycross Open Championship, which gets underway at Croft Circuit (Darlington) on Sunday March 2nd in addition to selected rounds of the European Rallycross Championship.

1979 World Rally Champion BJORN WALDEGARD has accepted an invitation from Steve Perez to drive his VK-backed Lancia Stratos on the Alternative Sign Centre Robin Hood Forest Stages Rally on 8/9th March. Joining fellow former champion STIG BLOMQVIST in the entry, the occasion will see Waldegard reunited with a Stratos for the first time in over 30 years when he was part of the Lancia works team.

The Chris Birkbeck Rallyschool has today signed an agreement with PSM Motorsport Ltd to sponsor the Junior category in the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship. The Championship for 14-17 year olds in identical 1.0 Rover Mini's will now be known as the "2008 Chris Birkbeck Rallyschool, Junior Rallycross Open Championship".

The team will continue with the Division 1 specification Tony Bardy Motorsport prepared Citroen Xsara for the 2008 season, which may also see the team take in selected rounds of the European Rallycross Championship.
