Sébastien Loeb, Daniel Elena and the Xsara WRC confirmed their position as pre-event favourites by winning in Trier for the third year in a row. This amazing performance was underlined by the superb third place claimed by Carlos Sainz and Marc Marti. It will also be remembered for the atrocious weather conditions, which made the first two days of the event so difficult. The Xsaras won nine of the twenty-four special stages, and led the race from beginning to end, Seb taking over, after SS2, from Carlos Sainz, the first event leader.

Rounds 22, 23, 24, Brands Hatch Indy circuit, 22 August

Team PSP was in contention for a podium place in round 23 and set the fastest lap in round 24 - but came away from the weekend with little reward for their strong performance. An uncharacteristic error by Watson Smith sidelined him in round 23 after a fine start from third on the grid and while making his way through the pack in the final race of the day a wheel-banging incident caused his retirement with steering problems. Fariqe's ever-improving racecraft saw him post a best lap just 0.6 seconds shy of his team-mate's fastest lap of the race in round 24 but he too was forced to retire.

The Bill Gwynne Rally School Junior Team member has been a firm favourite in the popular 205 series for the past few seasons stepping up to the 205 Scholarship for 2004. The Inverurie based driver was joined by Lancashire based Phil Peak for the Panaround Rally following an introduction by 205 Scholarship Co-ordinator Kevin Furber and although the team went out with a bang (writing the car off in the process) the pairing were happy with how the day had gone and decided to continue their association for the remaining rounds of the Championship.
